Andrea HughSam

Andrea HughSam is a Master Practitioner & Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).  She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of the West Indies with a focus on Gender Development and Sustainability. Andrea is also a Board member & Research Fellow of the UWI Caribbean Institute of Mental Health & Substance Abuse (CARIMENSA).

As an NLP Master Practitioner and Coach, Andrea designs and administers therapeutic modalities for different lifestyle challenges and ailments (such as anxiety, feelings of stress and being overwhelmed and experiencing communication challenges or conflicts).  Her skills in NLP, coupled with coaching services and sessions, are uniquely tailored to the needs of each client to help them to identify the choices that are available to them, and to implement those choices into concrete plans to achieve pre-set goals.

Driven by a passion to help people, Andrea works with clients in order for them to gain perspective on their lives and take the necessary steps towards realization of their full potential.  These skills have been honed over the last 24 years, during which time Andrea has held the role of Operations Manager at Central Trading Company Ltd, which included overseeing responsibilities for human resource and warehouse management. Her NLP skills come into play daily, as she manages a staff complement of 30 employees, providing daily guidance to individual members of staff, as well as supporting team-building throughout the organization.

At CARIMENSA, Andrea works with the Psychiatrists, Doctors and other Research Fellows on various research projects, writing of academic papers, conference presentations, training for the Psycho Histographic Cultural Therapy (a therapeutic methodology currently implemented in 97 schools across the island) & conducting group therapy interventions for teachers & other medical professionals.  She also works as a team member on domestic and international grant funding applications and pending publications.

A devoted mother of 2 young adults, Andrea is also a partner in BM Solutions, where she is involved in the promotion and application of psychometric testing in order to provide standardized quantitative and qualitative assessments of people (assessing their suitability for a potential role), and product testing (for customer acceptability and market effectiveness). Using her background in psychology and psychometric skills, Andrea provides valuable support in developing tests that focus on education.

Andrea draws inspiration from innovative methodology, and collaborating and consulting with other health professionals regarding the best treatment for clients. Such work assists clients deal with and understand diverse issues and underlying problems, including issues at home, at the workplace, or in their community. The aim of such work with her clients is to assist them in identifying their personal strengths and innate resources in order to manage problems by building effective solutions and coping mechanisms.
